Attraction:
Mindy McCready's a pretty blonde with a sweet drawl... yet we can't seem to erase those brutal mug shots of her 2007 arrest from our collective heads. If she cleans up her act and cleans up her looks, Mindy McCready might still have an opportunity to let her pretty southern belle side shine through.
Success:
Mindy McCready has released six albums, including a greatest hits compilation, which would make her quite successful. However, her countless run-ins with the law drags her success rating down a bit.
Biography
Born in Fort Meyers, Florida, on November 30, 1975, Mindy McCready (born Malinda Gayle McCready) grew up in a very strict Pentecostal home, but was nonetheless allowed to pursue a music career from a young age.
At 18 years old, Mindy McCready moved to Nashville, promising her mother that she would go to college if she did not establish herself in the music industry within one year. With handfuls of demo tapes, she knocked on every door in Music City looking for a break. Finally, with only one week to go before her deal with her mother expired, RCA president Joe Galante heard one of her demos and signed Mindy McCready on the spot.

Ten Thousand Angels, Mindy McCready's debut album, was released in April 1996, backed with high praise from critics. With the strength of the hit "Guys Do It All The Time," the album went multi-platinum and McCready became a star. She did not let up despite the success, however, and released If I Don't Stay the Night in 1997, followed by I'm Not So Tough in 1999. Though these albums, along with 2002's self-titled album and 2004's All American Country, failed to replicate the success of her debut, they still constitute a great body of work and Mindy McCready is considered a big country star as a result. In 2004 and 2005, Mindy McCready unfortunately ran into some personal troubles. First, she fraudulently obtained an addictive painkiller, and was then charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license. After her boyfriend was arrested and convicted of severely assaulting her, Mindy McCready was so shaken by the events that she turned to drugs, overdosing in July 2005. She has since been in recovery and her fans continue to stand by her through these hard times.
